As friends and partners of Slovakia, we are honored to support the LGBTQI+ community and Pride events across the country, from Banská Bystrica and Trnava, to Bratislava and Košice. Pride serves as a poignant reminder that all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights, and of the fact that everyone, regardless of who they are or whom they love, deserves the same respect, dignity, and equality in the enjoyment of their human rights.

We support Slovaks in their efforts to guarantee that all individuals, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, are able to fully enjoy their human rights and fundamental freedoms. International and regional instruments on human rights, such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the European Convention on Human Rights, and the Charter of the Fundamental Rights of the European Union, ensure the promotion of universal respect of human rights and fundamental freedoms, and stipulate that all are entitled to equal protection against any discrimination. These principles compel all of us to work toward equal treatment for everyone. This includes members of the LGBTQI+ community.

Hate-motivated violence and attacks, including the tragic 2022 Tepláreň attack, loom large in our collective memory. We continue to condemn all forms of discrimination and violence, reaffirming our commitment to defending the rights of every person, no matter who they are or whom they love.

We stand firm against attempts to undermine these rights, understanding that our collective prosperity and security are rooted in the inclusion and protection of all. Today, we send a clear message: everyone deserves to live authentically and without fear. We will continue to advocate for peaceful and inclusive societies where love and respect prevail.

To the LGBTQI+ community in Slovakia and beyond, we stand shoulder to shoulder with you, unwavering in our support.
