One week after police made their first arrests in the Kuciak and Kušnírová murder case, all the information in the public domain is now pointing towards the involvement of controversial businessman Marian Kočner.
When Alena Zsuzsová from Komárno was arrested last Friday, Slovak media immediately highlighted the links between her and Kočner that emerged from journalists’ talks with her neighbours, and with her and Kočner’s acquaintances.
On October 3, Denník N cited police sources as saying that one of the four persons charged with the murder, local Komárno businessman Zoltán Andruskó – who, according to the prosecutors, was one of the middlemen between the person who ordered the murder and the hitman – had named Kočner in testimony as the person at the top of the murderous pyramid.
Even before that, Smer chairman and former prime minister Robert Fico revealed he had information that the Kočner theory was the most likely one being pursued by the police, during a one-way press conference (in which he denied journalists the opportunity to ask questions following his statement) whose main purpose appeared to be to declare “It wasn’t me”.
