10th anniversary of Slovakia tonight

Midnight tonight marks the 10th anniversary of the founding of independent Slovakia, an event that will be celebrated by fireworks and urban programmes tonight, and a special sitting of parliament and commemorative speeches on January 1.The date also sees further powers devolved from state to local governments, such as land use planning and construction permits, and brings major rises in regulated prices for commodities such as energy, transport and utilities.
