Government Plenipotentiary for Roma Communities Ľudovít Galbavý has announced a corrected call to submit applications for provision of support for projects to help the Roma minority in Slovakia.
According to Galbavý, the new call simplifies and eliminates administrative problems which appeared when the call was first published. The main objective of the call is to elevate the social status, employment and education level of marginalised Roma communities as well to improve living standards in Roma communities.
The call is a part of the National Strategic Reference Framework for the 2007-2013 European Union programming period. The €200 million earmarked for the period to 2013 for projects benefiting the Roma minority can be drawn within the Regional Operational Programme, Employment and Social Inclusion Operational Programme, as well as the operational programmes of Education, Competitive Strength and Economic Growth, Healthcare, and Environment. Self-governing regions and micro-regions can submit applications for provision of support up to January 31 of next year, Michal Kaliňák, spokesman for the deputy prime minister for human rights and ethnic minorities, told the SITA newswire.
