Dominant Slovak power producer Slovenské Elektrárne, a.s. (SE) has not yet entered the price making process concerning 2008 wholesale power prices. It is leaving it to the Regulatory Office for Network Industries (URSO) to comment on proposed prices by distribution companies.
But SE’s spokesman, Juraj Kopriva, refused to specify the wholesale price at which electricity was sold to distributors. Furthermore, Slovenské Elektrárne has implemented only one tender for the sale of power until now.
Kopriva said the dates of other eventual tenders were not yet known. The power producer sold electricity at the wholesale price of Sk2,096 per megawatthour (MWh) in the first tender, which is approximately 28 percent more y/y. This wholesale price makes up about 40 to 44 percent of the final price of electric power for consumers. SITA
