THE PEKING to Paris Rally, one of the biggest international motoring challenges, which features vintage and classic cars travelling from China to Paris, France, made its way this year through Slovakia, with stops in Košice and in Bratislava.
A total of 100 cars (not all of them made it to the finish line) from 26 countries travelled 12,247 kilometres between May 28 (when they left Beijing) and June 29 (when they arrived in Paris). On Sunday, June 23, the entourage arrived in the eastern-Slovak city of Košice after making the 583 kilometre trip from Lvov, Ukraine. They arrived in Bratislava on Monday, June 24, where curious vintage car enthusiasts and onlookers were able to admire the classic cars, before continuing to Austria the following day.
The Endurance Rally Organisation has been organising this event ever since the early pioneers first drove form Beijing to Paris in 1907, the organisers informed in a press release, adding that this is the longest and toughest classic car rally, which involves driving from China through Mongolia, the Gobi desert, Russia, Ukraine, Slovakia, Austria, Switzerland and France.
