Heat warning issued as temperatures increase

People living in southern Slovakia should expect sweltering summer temperatures above 30°C again.

The Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ) has issued a heat warning throughout the southern part of Slovakia for Tuesday, August 20.

The temperature is expected to reach 33°C and 34°C in all regions except for the Trenčín and Žilina Regions.

The heat warning is in place from 13:00 until 18:00.

The warnings have been issued also for August 21. Storms can occur in most of central and eastern Slovakia from 11:00, and may last until 23:00 in some districts of Košice and Banská Bystrica Regions.

There is also a heat warning issued for the southeastern districts of Slovakia, where temperatures may be as high as 33°C.
