BELUŠA
A drunk armed man intimidated guests in bars and restaurants in the village of Beluöa in the western Slovak district of Púchov on January 16. The 43-year-old village resident pointed his gun at the barman at a local establishment called A-club and asked for a drink. After a firing off a few threatening obscenities, the man went out and shot five bullets in the air. Later he visited two more bars, where he shot through the windows and over the heads of cowering patrons.
The man was detained by the local police and charged with illegal possession of a weapon and disturbing the peace. A blood test revealed that the gunman's blood-alcohol level was 0.23 percent.
