The launch of a scheduled air route between the Sliač airport in central Slovakia and Vienna that had been announced to start at the end of March has been scrapped for now, the TASR newswire reported.
A Czech company based in Ostrava, Job Air, that was supposed to operate the route announced that it will withdraw from its agreement with the Banska Bystrica Region and the airport to begin the regular service between Ostrava and Vienna because of economic reasons.
Neither the Sliač airport nor the regional government have given up their goal to have regular air service between the cities, TASR wrote. The planned route would have been flown two times a day from Monday to Friday with a 33-seat SAAB plane.
