Airlines up in arms about EU customs rule

Slovak airlines have said a planned customs duty of 5.4 per cent on imports of aircraft parts and technical equipment, set to take effect at the beginning of 2003, will make domestic airlines less competitive than EU firms.

The rule has been required by the EU following a two-year moratorium on the duty.
