A total of eight youths around 18 years of age assaulted Sun Shizhong and his two friends. One of the group hit the diplomat's friend on the chin, while another knocked the diplomat's ID documents to the ground and then kicked him in the head when he attempted to retrieve them. Sun spent 10 days in hospital with a broken nose and rib and a concussion.

The arrests were made August 20, and those arrested could face between six months and three years in prison. Spokeswoman for the Police Corps Regional Directorate Marta Bujnáková informed the SITA news agency that the case is still under investigation
