American Jarred Schecter is supporting three talented Roma pupils from Spišský Hrhov with monthly contributions of about €300 to their education, the Sme daily wrote on March 15. His aim is to get the two boys and one girl to university. However, he conditions his assistance on good results at their schools.
The tutor of the children is the director of the local elementary school, Peter Strážik, who controls their school results and buys them all the necessary items from the donated money. Schecter is a journalist, photographer and philanthropist. He says education is the only way out of a vicious circle for Roma children. Sme
