About 15 people staged a calm protest against violence in front of the Libyan Embassy in Bratislava on the afternoon of March 21 in an event organised by Amnesty International Slovensko, the TASR newswire reported.
Protesters held signs and lit candles for the victims of violence in Libya. Thousands have died in the northern African country since the power struggle erupted earlier this month which subsequently has led to a NATO-led military intervention.
Peter Weisenbacher from AI Slovensko said in a short address that his organisation calls on all parties involved in the conflict to allow civilians to leave the country if they wish, TASR wrote. AI called on authorities to create humanitarian corridors from Libya to facilitate this.
Protesters were not met by anyone from the Libyan Embassy to receive their letter conveying this message.
