THE RULING New Citizen's Alliance (ANO) said it supports the European Union constitutional treaty and that further public discussion of the document is necessary, the TASR news agency reported.
The party intends to tour Slovakia in the near future to try and convince people of the constitution's benefits for both the EU and Slovakia.
ANO deputy chair Katarína Glončáková says the constitution, if adopted, will make EU operations more efficient and transparent.
Glončáková thinks that arguments presented by some political parties against the constitution are one-sided and intimidating.
These parties object to the draft simply to get more local voter support. The constitution, she thinks, will promote member states' cooperation and increase the powers of the European Parliament.
