THE OPPOSITION New Citizen's Alliance (ANO) party of Pavol Rusko is determined to pursue a liberal values' agenda in the parliamentary elections set for this year.
ANO chairman Rusko said that there was no reason for the party to deal with the question of whether to take part in the elections alone or in a merger with another party.
"Media often talk about possible merger of ANO and the Free Forum, but this is not a hot thing for us. Neither are we considering that the party should cease to exist," Rusko said.
Rusko said his party currently has 5,632 members and functional regional bodies in all eight Slovak regions. The current low support of only 3 percent of voters is temporary, Rusko said, according to the TASR news agency.
To make it to parliament, a party must score at least 5 percent in the elections.
ANO left the ruling coalition at the end of last year after Rusko was fired from his cabinet post as economy minister following a personal financial affair.
