The ruling coalition ANO party of Pavol Rusko demanded to be allowed to appoint its candidate to a senior post in either the Interior Ministry or the SIS secret service to improve what it alleges is illegal use of security forces for surveillance.
Rusko also handed over to the parliamentary defence and security committee a cassette recording of an interview he did with a Sme newspaper reporter. He alleges the recording, which contains passages not on the journalist’s tape, is proof that he was under surveillance by a third party.
A senior coalition body is to meet on January 28 to decide whether to accede to a list of eight demands ANO presented following Rusko’s first claims that Interior Minister Vladimír Palko had investigated his possible meeting with an underworld crime boss without informing him.
