Another alleged Nigerian drug smuggler is in custody

A Nigerian man, Kelly A., who on Monday allegedly tried to smuggle heroin in his stomach into Slovakia, is in custody after the District Court Bratislava II so ordered, the TASR newswire wrote.

A Nigerian man, Kelly A., who on Monday allegedly tried to smuggle heroin in his stomach into Slovakia, is in custody after the District Court Bratislava II so ordered, the TASR newswire wrote.

“In last three weeks, we have detained three foreigners from Nigeria at the M.R. Štefánik Airport in Bratislava, the last one on Saturday, June 27. On June 26, the District Court Bratislava II detained M.K.A., suspected of the grave crime of illegal production of psychotropic matter, its possession and trafficking. The reason for detention is the so-called escape and preventive custody,” the spokesman for the Regional Court in Bratislava, Pavol Adamčiak, told TASR.

Kelly A., detained on June 23, faces a 15-year prison sentence. He had 73 packages containing a brown substance, testing positive in drug tests. Kelly A. arrived in Bratislava from Brussels via Prague and underwent routine drug tests of blood and urine. Within 24 hours, he excreted a total of 73 packages weighing about 1,200 grams. He has permanent residency in Spain.

Another detained Nigerian, Raymond O., 34, was also detained at Bratislava airport on June 9. He was allegedly smuggling about 70 capsules of cocaine and faces a life sentence. The last detained Nigerian, Chelson Macjud I., 29, was caught on June 27 when allegedly trying to smuggle cocaine. He arrived from Prague. His bowels contained 66 packages weighing about 1,040 grams.
