Six Slovak citizens left the Lebanese capital of Beirut, taking a Greek ship which is heading for the Cypriot port of Larnaca, said Samaha Roy, Slovakia's Honorary Consul in Beirut.
The group of six Slovaks, which includes children, should be contacted by the staff of the Slovak Embassy in Nicosia upon their arrival in Cyprus. The staff is going to assist them with their transfer to Slovakia. All six Slovaks who boarded the ship are reportedly in good condition, both physically and psychologically, the TASR newsire reported.
However, there are still several Slovak citizens (with dual citizenship) in Lebanon who have decided not to leave the country despite the escalating tensions there.
In southern Lebanon, there are a few Slovaks interested in being evacuated and transferred back home. However, they face difficulties in getting to Beirut due to the intense fighting there, Roy said.
On July 18 a group of 22 Slovaks left Lebanon. They were evacuated and transferred via the Syrian city of Latakia.
