The Anti-drug Fund distributed 7.8 million Slovak crowns in the form of grants to 16 different projects at its session on December 6. Of the total, 15 projects focus on drug prevention, education and rehabilitation. One grant, for a psychiatric hospital in Pezinok, will go towards medical care, said Fund Director Miroslav Žufa.
Poľana publishing house received the biggest grant (3 million crowns) followed by the Education Ministry (1.84 million crowns) and the Centre for Consultant Services (1.37 million crowns). Of the 28 submitted applications for assistance, the fund turned down eleven, while one application has been put off for further consideration.
In 1998, 131 million of the 160.5 million crowns allocated in the state budget was spent on the fight against drugs.
