DOPRASTAV, the construction company for Bratislava's fifth bridge across the Danube, recently christened the Apollo, announced that work on the bridge is complete.
The official opening ceremony will be on September 4 and the bridge will be open to the public the next day, the TASR news agency reported.
Money from the state and the European Investment Bank helped finance the project, which cost Sk4.3 billion (€110 million).
Originally the investment expenditures for the bridge were calculated at Sk3.6 billion (€92 million) but after the VAT rate increased to 19 percent in 2004 and price indexes for construction works went up, expenditures followed suit.
