THE CONSTITUTIONAL court abolished the parliamentary commission that decides on appeals from unsuccessful job candidates that have been rejected for government work by the Slovak National Security Office's (NBÚ) security screening process, the daily Pravda reported.
The court found that the activities of the commission, which is composed of Slovak MPs, are in conflict with the Slovak Constitution.
The Slovak parliament now has to quickly agree on a different form of appeals authority to review NBÚ decisions.
Smer member and the head of the parliamentary defence committee, Robert Kaliňák, disagrees with the court's verdict, arguing that the commission was an expert body that operated without any political pressure.
