WITHOUT the support of independent parliamentary deputies, a proposal from the opposition Smer party to recall Prime Minister Mikuláš Dzurinda is bound to fail, according to the Hospodárske noviny daily.
The no-confidence vote is scheduled for Tuesday, June 28 at an extraordinary session of parliament. Robert Fico, chairman of Smer, can as yet count on the support of 64 deputies' votes.
The Communist Party of Slovakia (KSS), the Movement for a Democratic Slovakia (HZDS) and the Free Forum have promised their support for Smer.
However, most of the independent deputies regard the Smer move as part of the party's pre-election campaign, the daily reported.
