In the future, audio records will be kept of court sessions, according to the amendment to the Civil Procedure Code passed in parliament on November 27 and signed by President Andrej Kiska on December 10.
After the end of session, audio recordings will be added to the court file and become part of it. All sides involved in the trial and their representatives will be able to ask the court for a copy.
Justice Minister Tomáš Borec, whose ministry elaborated the draft amendment, hopes that the recording of the court sessions will bring better culture to the courtrooms and fewer disputes about what happened and what did not at a sessions. Borec also said, as quoted by the SITA newswire, that the recording will ultimately speed up the very court proceeding itself. New recording devices have been installed at courts mainly in summer. Currently, there are installed at courts in all 510 courtrooms.
The measure will become effective as of March 1, the TASR newswire reported.
