Austrian cops nab high-speed Slovak

AT THE end of April a Slovak driver, aged 24, had his driver’s licence confiscated by Austrian police after he was clocked driving at 230 kilometres per hour on a highway near Salzburg.

AT THE end of April a Slovak driver, aged 24, had his driver’s licence confiscated by Austrian police after he was clocked driving at 230 kilometres per hour on a highway near Salzburg.

The driver’s Chevrolet was monitored by an unmarked police car and his speed ranged between 210 and 230 kilometres per hour, the Austrian APA newswire wrote. The speed limit on Austrian highways is 130 kilometres per hour.

The “road pirate” was required to leave his licence with the officers and was allowed to continue his trip – to Switzerland – as a passenger, after posting bail. The identity of the speeder was not released.
