The Public Procurement Office announced on March 9 that would file a motion at the pertinent court requesting it to annul the agreement on the operation of the Gabčíkovo hydroelectric plant.
According to the contested contract, the Slovenské Elektrárne power utility leased the plant as a part of the purchase of a majority stake in the company by Italian company Enel.
The Public Procurement Office decided to file the motion a day before the expiry of the one-year deadline to contest the agreement.
The General Prosecution Office stated that the Public Procurement Office should have announced a public tender before the agreement was signed, and thus give other companies the opportunity to take part in the tender, too.
