As many as 25 carmakers are presenting their wares at the annual international car exhibition Autosalón Nitra 2011, which opened in Nitra's Agrokomplex exhibition halls on Wednesday, September 28, and will run until October 3. According to Agrokomplex director František Ďurkovič, there are 180 exhibitors from 10 countries in ten halls.
Models from several carmakers, including Range Rover and Jaguar, will get their Slovak debuts in Nitra, the TASR newswire wrote. Ferrari promised to show its Ferrari FF to the Slovak public for the first time at the car show, but later changed its plans. The model was only part of the exhibition on the first day, which is reserved for experts and journalists. A red Ferrari California, worth €225,000, is standing in for the remainder of the exhibition; the FF was instead used to drive Italian actress Ornella Muti to a social event in Vienna.
Autosalón Nitra 2011 is the only car show in Slovakia to be included in the OICA (Organisation Internationale des Constructeurs d'Automobiles) calendar of the most prestigious auto shows in the world.
