On March 20, the Hospodárske Noviny daily reported that the biggest private employer in Slovakia has a new president.
George Babcoke will lead U.S. Steel Košice with 14,500 employees. The new director has already negotiated with the mayor of Košice about the steel company's activities in the city and nearby municipalities. Babcoke also said the company would continue supporting sports. Babcoke is the fourth president of the steelworks since its opening in Slovakia. His predecessor, David Lohr, put into operation the new hot dip galvanizing line for Sk4.5 billion while the current president plans to offer a wider assortment of products to clients. Babcoke took up the USSK top job as part of a regular rotation of top managerial positions in the company, the daily wrote. SITA
