The woman kidnapped the baby after promising his mother that she would keep an eye on him while the mother went to the toilet.

According to police, the kidnapper comes from western Slovakia's Lašárska Nová Ves. She is childless and had planned the kidnapping for a longer time, police said.

According to police she gave in to the immense media pressure that was created by the police through the local media. The woman, not named, finally broke under the pressure and brought the kidnapped baby boy to her neighbour, asking him to give him to the police.

Police also arrested the woman's husband, 22, under suspicion that he knew of his wife's plans. According to Pravda, the woman had prepared the field for the kidnapping by telling her neighbours and acquaintances that she had given birth to twins. She planned to say that one of them had died and the surviving baby boy was in the incubator.
