INDEPENDENT MP Jozef Banáš has become a member of PM Mikuláš Dzurinda's Slovak Democratic and Christian Union (SDKÚ) party, the SME daily wrote.
Banáš was elected to parliament while he was still secretary general for the liberal New Citizen's Alliance (ANO), but left the party because of his disappointment in not being on the top of ANO's list of candidates for the European parliament elections.
He said that he believes the SDKÚ will give him the opportunity to voice his ideas, especially in the foreign policy field, describing himself as a "liberally oriented Christian".
