Astronomy is becoming more popular (source: TASR)
AS PART of the 2009 International Year of Astronomy, the Central Slovak Museum held a Spring Equinox event in cooperation with the Banská Bystrica Observatory on March 20.
The programme, celebrating the arrival of spring, was held in the Thurzo House on SNP Square in Banská Bystrica, the TASR newswire wrote.
The programme began in the morning with children and school groups taking part in an animated and creative workshop called “Let’s Play with a Calendar”.
Observatory employees then made presentations for visitors, including a lecture entitled From Equinox to Solstice, followed by a media presentation about astronomical events in 2008.
