The Slovak Trade and Investment Development Agency (SARIO) has approved an application from the village of Vígľaš in the Banská Bystrica Region for Sk50 million (€1.47 million) in European funds in order to enable it to begin building the infrastructure for an industrial park.
"We're preparing a tender for the infrastructure for 37.5 hectares,” Vígľaš Mayor Pavol Výboch told the TASR newswire. “Those interested can apply until the end of August. The infrastructure should be supplied before the end of this year so that the first investors can start building production halls in the spring of 2008."
Four firms, three of which are from Slovakia, have expressed interest in investing in Vígľaš. Three of the companies are work in mechanical engineering, while the fourth operates in the chemicals industry.
German firm Burgmaier is sticking to the plan it announced back in July 2005 to build a factory for manufacturing car parts, investing €15 million and creating 300 jobs by 2014. Its initially planned date of late 2005 for starting construction has been postponed several times due to problems with the purchase of the land.
