THE NEW presidium of the Slovak Bar Association has unanimously elected Tomáš Borec president, bringing an end to the term of long-serving President Štefan Detvai, the SITA newswire reported.
“After 20 years I got tired of it,” Detvai said, as quoted by the ČTK newswire. He had been leading the association since it was established after the fall of communism.
The election took place at the Bar Conference in Bratislava on June 18-19. In a secret ballot, the presidium elected Ľubomír Hrežďovič and Jozef Olej as vice presidents.
The conference also elected members and substitutes for the presidium. They are Jozef Olej, Ľubomír Hrežďovič, Radoslav Procházka, Tomáš Borec, Peter Kerecman, Ivan Fiačan, Jana Biroščáková, Viktória Hellenbart and Ondrej Mularčík.
Substitutes will be Boris Draskaba, Juraj Veverka and Mária Chrenková.
