JUSTICE Minister Tomáš Borec has sacked Judge Karol Krochta from the post of chair of the Bardejov District Court. Krochta lost trust after a selection procedure was won by his sister and he is suspected of assaulting someone two years ago, the Sme daily reported in its March 20 issue.
Malatinský based his decision on a motion filed by Prešov Regional Court Chairwoman Anna Ilčinová, who stated a loss of trust as the main reason.
Krochta’s sister, Katarína Krochtová, won the selection procedure at the same court which her brother presided over. She succeeded in the oral part of the testing, whose score is given only by the personal feeling of the committee. The committee members were chosen by Krochta who denied any interference into their work, Sme wrote.
In addition to this, the Constitutional Court is currently dealing with the request submitted by the General Prosecutor’s Office that asks for Krochta’s prosecution. He is suspected of causing a bodily harm to a person in a conflict that occurred two years ago during New Year’s Eve celebrations. The court’s senate will issue the ruling in the end of March.
