The man suffered serious injuries and significant blood loss. He was picked up by helicopter, because of the difficult terrain where the bear attack happened, and taken to a hospital in Poprad. Hospital spokesman Juraj Brija said the victim was undergoing emergency surgery, but that fortunately the bites to his neck had not damaged vital blood vessels.
