A new wrinkle has appeared in a long court battle over the rights to produce the Becherovka liqueur. Czech businessman Zdeněk Hoffman says he possesses the original of a contract to manufacture Becherovka, and that a contract submitted to a court in Prešov by the Czech firm Jan Becher-Karlovarska is a fake. “They have enough money to forge any contract they want,” Hoffman said. He added he had sold the rights to the Slovak firm Dajk which is now producing the liqueur in Slovakia, and which is mired in a legal battle with Jan Becher-Karlovarska.
