The Slovak National Party (SNS) could be led by its current vice-chair Anna Belousovová as of this autumn, with the new party chair due to be elected at the party congress in September, according to a news agency report
The current four-year term of current SNS chairman Ján Slota is set to end that month. According to a report by the TASR newswire, a number of district and regional party organisations plan to nominate Belousovová for the leadership role. They would like to see the leadership change hands peacefully, ideally with current leader Ján Slota and Belousovová reaching some sort of agreement. No district or regional party organisations had announced any official nominations as of July 20.
The SNS won nine seats in parliament in the June general election, having just cleared the five-percent threshold with 5.07 percent of votes cast.
