“She gave me a maternal slap. She came up to me, showed me the article and asked if by saying Anča I meant her. I told her yes,” said Matovič, who added that he believed the slap was a “demonstration of her Christian love”, TASR reported. “I'll get her back by turning the other cheek,” he said, adding that he doesn’t expect an apology. “She's brought shame on herself. I won't seek any payback or press charges.”

Matovič admitted that he was shaken by the incident, but was advised even by Prime Minister Iveta Radičová to let it go. Belousovová said in reaction that she had only tried to explain to Matovič how a gentleman should behave towards a lady. “Mr. Matovič lacks a proper upbringing and doesn’t know how to treat a lady,” she said. “I've got a certain name and surname, I’m no ‘hey you!’ for anyone, much less for Mr. Matovič. I won’t let anyone insult me,” she concluded.
