Beneficiaries of social assistance in Slovakia fall in number in February

The number of beneficiaries eligible to receive material-need benefits decreased in February for the second month in a row according to figures presented by the Labour, Social Affairs and Family Central Office which stated that 186,700 individuals received this form of social assistance in February, a decline by 3,200 from the previous month, the SITA newswire reported.

Nevertheless, the number of beneficiaries was 3,300 higher than in February 2010, SITA wrote. After including family members, 371,800 persons were dependent on material-need benefits in February, representing 6.85 percent of Slovakia's population.
