Inspectors have fined some of the country’s top retail chains for misleading marketing, the Pravda daily reported on September 12.
Most violations happened at outlets of the top retail chain, Tesco, with 88 percent of its stores having violations. Second was Ahold, with violations at 80 percent of its outlets.
The most common fines were for stores that had products missing at the beginning of a special offer, discount prices that were higher than the original ones, or missing prices on products.
Two eyars ago, retailers had to pay millions of crowns worth of fines after scandalous January special offers. Carrefour had to pay the highest fine then.
