Economy Minister Ľubomír Jahnátek will submit a bill on emergency gas reserves and on measures to be taken during a gas-related state of emergency, the press and information section of the Government Office announced on January 21.
Jahnátek's bill should be approved via a fast-track legislative process, the TASR newswire wrote.
In a week's time, Jahnátek is also due to hand in a report on the causes and consequences of the gas crisis. The report, which the minister has prepared in co-operation with Foreign Affairs Minister Jan Kubis, should also include suggestions as how to tackle a similar crisis in the future.
Gas supplies from Russia were halted for almost two weeks earlier this month due to a dispute between Russia and Ukraine. This was settled on Tuesday, January 20, by the signing of a new agreement on gas prices and transit. TASR
