Around 30-40 percent of the total equity of companies in the Central Europe region is in the hands of foreign owners, a survey carried out by consultancy firm Bisnode has revealed. Dutch, German and Austrian investors head the list when it comes to the volume of controlled equity in Central Europe.
Bisnode told the TASR newswire on Saturday, July 13 that the region is attractive to investors mainly thanks to its location.
"Investors view a location in the heart of Europe as beneficial, and along with the economic development of individual economies in the past few years and relative political stability, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia are the most appropriate choices," said Bisnode Czech Republic analyst Michal Říčař.
Slovak companies are to a large extent controlled by Hungarian, Czech and Austrian owners. Meanwhile, foreign owners in the Czech Republic tend to be Russians, Germans and Ukrainians.
