Bojnice and Spiš Castles listed among Europe’s most beautiful

Bojnice and Spiš Castles have been placed among the 25 most beautiful castles in Europe by the travel portal Offtoeurope.com. Other castles on the list include the famous Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany, Windsor Castle in England, the palace at Versailles and Prague Castle, among others, the TASR newswire reported.

“We were pleased to see that two Slovak jewels have been placed on the list next to English, German and French castles,” Slovak Tourist Board (SACR) PR manager Zuzana Nemcová told TASR.

Bojnice Castle, located in Trenčín Region, placed 3rd, and described as “one of the most delightful romantic castles in Europe”. The website stated that the castle dates back to the 12th century and hosts one of the most popular museums in Slovakia.

“Moreover, the castle also offers other interesting attractions and hosts many festivals. It is also possible to get married at Bojnice Castle,” according to Offtoeurope.com.

Regarding Spiš Castle, situated in Prešov Region, which placed 17th, the website pointed out that it is one of the largest medieval castles in central Europe. Moreover, the castle was declared a national monument in 1961 and was once owned by the Hungarian royal family.

“Spiš Castle is a UNESCO World Heritage Site,” the website reads.
