Bomb goes off near Nitra police headquarters

NO INJURIES were reported when a bomb detonated late on August 14 near police headquarters in Nitra, the TASR news wire wrote.

The blast, caused by explosives placed in a rubbish bin situated between a secondary school and police headquarters, shattered dozens of windows in both buildings and damaged trees in a nearby park.

The explosion left a crater 40cm in diameter and 20cm deep. Investigators are trying to establish motive as well as determine how the bomb was made.

If found and convicted, the perpetrator could face three to six years in prison for endangering the public.
