The Bratislava airport plans to open a new information kiosk for tourists that will provide them with practical advice on transport, accommodation and other services in the Slovak capital, the TASR newswire reported on August 18.
The kiosk will be operated by the regional organisation for tourism in Bratislava. At the moment there are 30 local and two regional organisations for tourism in the country, which the state supports with a total subsidy of €3.3 million a year.
“The sphere of tourism still has reserves, while it is local [and regional] organisations for tourism that know the priorities of individual regions the best ... In Bratislava, for example, it is the castle that should be promoted as the dominant feature of the city,” said František Palko, the state secretary (i.e. deputy minister) of the Transport Ministry, as quoted by TASR.
