Bratislava Castle chosen for summit meeting

BRATISLAVA castle has been chosen as the venue for the meeting in February between the presidents of the USA and Russia, George W. Bush and Vladimir Putin, according to the daily SME.

Slovak president Ivan Gašparovič announced the decision after a three-way meeting between himself, Prime Minister Mikuláš Dzurinda and Speaker of Parliament Pavol Hrušovský on January 17.

The President did not confirm if Mr Bush would visit Parliament as well. Since this is a working, not an official visit, Mr Bush’s itinerary is being decided by the Americans.

As Head of State and Prime Minister Gašparovič and Dzurinda respectively will act as hosts for the two presidents. Compiled by Magdalena MacLeod from press reports
