THE OLD TOWN borough of Bratislava opened the first dog park in the Slovak capital. The borough administration fenced off the already existing dog run on Poľná Street and added canine agility equipment, like hurdles, a tunnel, a swing, slalom poles and a hoop to jump through.
“I believe that the complex in Poľná can cover all needs of the dog owners,” mayor of the Old Town Tatiana Rosová said, according to a press release. “With this dog park, we did not focus only on the dog owners, but also on all inhabitants of the Old Town. As the space is fenced off and there are numerous litter bins, it will also help to keep the streets clean,” she added.
The agility playground can also help prevent aggressive behaviour in dogs and improve their health by offering mental and physical stimulation. The borough administration plans to organise workshops and events to educate dogs and dog owners.
