MEDICAL staff at Bratislava's Teaching Hospital (FNsP) agreed that approximately 60-90 percent of them, varying according to individual departments and clinics, would refuse to attend emergency shifts as of May 2, FNsP strike committee chairman Marian Kollár told the press on April 25.
Kollár added that the health care workers would be working to rule by strictly observing the Labour Code. The majority of healthcare workers have already exceeded the annual limit laid down in the Code for emergency and overtime work.
This latest move is the second stage of a strike that was announced by FNsP workers on April 6, the TASR news agency wrote.
Other hospitals, however, have gradually backed off from the strike action. Most hospitals have agreed with their medical staff on an increase in wages, which was the main demand in the health care workers' strike.
