THE SECONDARY Professional School on Farského Street in Bratislava trains future chefs and waiters, as well as pastry chefs, butchers and future managers in the hospitality sector. On March 20, the school organised a special day of Turkish cuisine.
After a similar Indonesian event in November 2013, as part of the Days of International Cuisine, this time the menu and ambiance celebrated Turkey.
“One of the roles of Bratislava Region, as the founder and tutor of the secondary schools in this region, is to support students in developing their skills also outside the curricula,” Bratislava regional governor Pavol Frešo told the TASR newswire. “Students need practical experience that gives them an advantage over other jobseekers after graduation.”
The Turkish menu was prepared by second-year culinary students and the event was attended by Turkish Ambassador to Slovakia Gulhan Ulutekin and Georgian Ambassador Alexander Nalbandov.
“We are interested in creating traditions with a special focus on the mutual acquaintance of cultures, which also includes the sphere of gastronomy and tourism,” headmaster Jozef Horák said. “Moreover, students will enhance their professional knowledge and skills.”
