The chief executive of the Metro Bratislava company, Vladimír Kovalčík, told a press conference that the current state of the bridge, as revealed by recent checks, is alarming.

As a result of the decision, the capital’s inhabitants and visitors alike will lose a crucial transport artery across the Danube River, not to mention an important route for public transport. Bus lines 50, 78 and 95 and the night-bus lines N80 and N95 will now have to be re-routed.
