AN INITIATIVE calling itself 'Voice for Europe', held a protest march on July 16 in Bratislava to demonstrate opposition to possible Turkish entry into the EU, the daily SME reported.

Approximately 30 protesters from Slovakia, Austria, Hungary, and the Czech republic carried banners with slogans such as "Turkey is not Europe". They also signed a petition against Turkey's accession into the EU.

Organizers claimed that Turkey's entry into the EU represents a considerable risk to European integration, while the assumed advantages arising from Turkey's integration into the union could be achieved through favoured partnership status.
